Life Goal: “LESS”

The older I become and the more experiences I go through, the more I realize I just want less in my life. I want less stuff, less commitments, and less on my to-do list. We live in an age where we are always so busy. We have technologies that are supposed to make our life “easier” and yet have enabled us to cram more into our day.

I want less “stuff.” This means less to take care of, clean, and organize. With my 4 kids in a tiny space, I have had my moments of wishing for a giant home. That feeling too has passed. A big home is no longer on my priority list.

I want less commitments. Do we really need a calendar full of penciled in appointments and daily enrichment activities? Do we really need to work more hours and more jobs to pay for a lifestyle that we don’t actually need, that isn’t even making us happy?

I want less on my to-do list. I love lists. I keep lists full of things I “need” to do and hobbies I want to do. I am a hobby addict. At the end of the day, I just want to swing in the front yard and watch the sky with my family. I want to scale down that to-do list and add to my family’s bank of precious memories.

My new priority list: my family and living a healthy lifestyle so I can spend more time with those I love.

What are your priorities? Are you living your life in honor of those priorities? Are you chasing something that is a distraction from your priorities? How can you focus and improve your outlook on life right now?
